Set in 1941 in a remote village in the princely state of Travancore, today part of the southwestern Indian state of Kerala, Gopalakrishnan’s slow-paced, powerful and at times visually beautiful film centres on the tragic life of Kaliyappan, an aging state executioner and his family.
A panel discussion with Adoor Gopalakrishnan (following Shadow Kill) will take place at QFT, Sunday 29th March, 3.30pm
