Makers of the short film Boogaloo and Graham gear up for night at the Oscars.

Belfast Film Festival are delighted with the BAFTA success of local filmmakers Michael Lennox (director), Ronan Blaney (writer) and Brian J Falconer (producer) as their film Boogaloo and Graham won Best British Short at a glittering award ceremony last week.

Set in 1970’s Belfast, Boogaloo and Graham tells the story of two young boys, Jamesy and Malachy, who are over the moon when their soft-hearted dad presents them with two baby chicks to look after. But the boys are in for a shock when their parents announce that big changes are in store for the family.

The film – which stars Martin McCann alongside young actors Riley Hamilton and Aaron Lynch – has also been nominated for Best Live Action Short Film at this years Academy Awards, where it’s hoped it can follow in the footsteps of Terry George’s The Shore, which won the award in 2012.

Boogaloo and Graham is to air on RTÉ One on Friday, February 20th – two days before the Academy Awards ceremony. It will also be screened at the Queen’s Film Theatre in Belfast on March 7, 15 and 21 as part of the BAFTA Shorts 2015 season.
