To celebrate the release in Northern Ireland of the hotly anticipated ROBOT OVERLORDS, which was shot in Northern Ireland in 2013, the Belfast Film Festival will present Drive-in screenings at two specific locations which were used during filming.

Online sales for the Donaghadee screening are now disabled. Tickets for this event are available at the venue.

Using the UK’s largest outdoor LED screen, Carrickfergus Castle will be transformed into a huge drive-in cinema for our most ambitious screening to date!  The second screening will take place in Donaghadee, a short distance from the seafront, which locals will no doubt recognize on screen.

Directed by Jon Wright and starring Gillian Anderson and Ben Kingsley, ROBOT OVERLORDS is a home-grown homage to the action adventure films of the ’80s, packed with incredible special effects and rebellious excitement for all ages.

The adults lost the war and now the kids must save the world! Robots rule the streets and the people are locked in their homes. Stepping outside risks being vapourised by a hulking sentry or picked off by a lethal sniper.  hrough the ruins of Britain a group of kids, led by Callan McAuliffe (The Great Gatsby), set out to join the Resistance. Hot on their heels, however, is their old teacher turned robot collaborator Mr Smythe, played by Ben Kingsley (Iron Man 3) and his captive Gillian Anderson (The X-Files).

The screenings are supported with funding from Northern Ireland Screen and are presented in partnership with Cinemagic, Signature Entertainment, Embankment and BFI.
