The Black Power Mixtape revisits the period 1967-1975 in Black American History, looking at social upheaval, political activism and developing radical thought of the time.

Shown through the footage of Swedish journalists, with a score by drummer Ahmir Thompson (aka Questlove) and Om’mas Keith, and with vocal testimony from Erykah Badu, Taleb Kweli, Questlove, Bobby Seale, Angela Davis, Kathleen Cleaver and Melvin Van Peebles, the film gives context to the protest music of the era that defined a generation.

This film is part of a series for Moving on Music’s Brilliant Corners Jazz Festival, now in its fifth edition. You can find more information and book tickets for this year’s gigs here:
