Director Yann Demange was in town for a screening of his first film ‘71, a Troubles based thriller set in the war torn streets of Belfast in 1971.
The film, which tells the story of Gary (Jack O’Connell) a young British solider accidentally abandoned by his unit following a terrifying street riot, was presented last Saturday to a packed auditorium. Amongst cast members present where Richard Dormer, Chris Patrick Simpson and two of the local child actors involved Corey McKinley and Aaron Lynch.
Following the screening and to the delight of the audience, film critic Brian Henry Martin hosted a Q&A session with Yann Demange, Writer Gregory Burke (Black Watch), Producers Angus Lamont and Robin Gutch (Warp Films) and the composer of the brilliant original score, David Holmes.
The event was presented in partnership with the Belfast Film Festival, Queen’s Film Theatre with the assistance of Film Hub N.I.
