A packed crowd gathered at the QFT last night to pay tribute to John T Davis, legendary documentary filmmaker from Holywood, County Down, at the screening of director Paul McParland’s┬átribute ‘John T Davis: His Own Trail.’

Davis, one of Ireland’s most internationally respected documentarians, established his┬áreputation with films such as ‘Shellshock Rock,’ ‘Route 66,’ ‘Hobo’ and ‘The Uncle Jack.’

McParland’s film explores the director’s unique outlook on life and his talents as a musician. Interspersed throughout is footage of John travelling through America, traversing the landscape that inspires his dreams, fantasies and realities, as well as clips from a number of his films.
