| | | | | | |  | | | | | | | | | | The 10th Belfast Film Festival was opened by the Irish and UK Premiere of Danis Tanovich’s Triage which starred Colin Farrell.
This year the Audience Award went to the locally produced first time feature Cupcake directed by Colin McIvor and produced by Katy Jackson.
The Short Film Competition Winner The Chronoscope was directed by Andrew Legge and the Maysles Brothers Feature Documentary Award went to the very fine October Country directed by U.S. film-makers Michael Palmieri & Donal Mosher.
Two new awards where presented this year, the OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION TO CINEMA AWARD was presented to Belfast-born actor, Ciaran Hinds; and a LIFE-TIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD presented to the brilliant US film-making master, Haskell Wexler.
Special guests at the Festival included actors John Lynch and Ciaran Hinds; Director’s Mark Cousins, Ken Wardrop, Margo Harkin, Eva Weber, Alison Millar, Lisa Barros D’Sa, Brian Durnin, and Declan Keeney amongst others.
The closing night film was the UK and Irish Premiere of Francis Ford Coppolla’s, Tetro. Workshops, masterclasses and discussions featured highly during what once again turned out to be an amazing festival which again broke all box records.
