As of early May 2026, over 260 journalists and media workers have been killed in Gaza since October 7, 2023. The UN and various organisations have described this as the deadliest conflict for journalists in history.

With Israel’s new surge of ethnic cleansing in South Lebanon, the total has now reached 28 for the same period. In this documentary, director Seán Murray investigates Israel’s policy of ‘Journacide’ and highlights the collective silence of mainstream media in holding to account the direct targeting of those attempting to uphold the truth.

Renowned journalist, author and former war correspondent for The New York Times Chris Hedges will host a post screening Q&A, with director Sean Murray and Ali Khali, brother of murdered Lebanese journalist Amal Khali.

Journacide: The War on Truth won the Ross McDonnell Award for best cinematography in an Irish documentary at Docs Ireland earlier this year the international jury commented:

This compelling feature confronts one of the most devastating realities of our time, bearing witness to the systematic targeting of civilians, among them those who risk daily their life to tell a different story than the narrative propagandas of the perpetrators. Through a camera that is attentive to the smallest human details yet unflinching in the face of violence, this film observes with rare commitment and courage the profound consequences the targeting of journalists has for truth, accountability, and our collective understanding of war, creating a powerful visual testimony whose patience, engagement, and relentless gaze becomes an act of resistance in itself.
