Nicholas Keogh the Director of the 2016 winning short film, Introducing Brian, joined us last week for a presentation ceremony.
Nicholas who is originally from Rostrevor, represented Northern Ireland at the 2006 Venice Biennale. Kevin Jackson the Festival Chair presented the award. Nicholas’ producer Manal Laginaf, Michele Devlin Festival Director and Stephen Hackett (Programmer) attended the presentation.
JUDGES STATEMENT
Introducing Brian was selected as the winner in recognition of its visual innovation and experimentation with narrative storytelling. The judges felt its subject matter and striking cinematography was refreshing and opened the way for new forms of storying telling in short film. They commended its courage in shifting boundaries in relation to personal stories and the examination of identities.
